Key areas of responsibility:
- Perform setup, repair, and maintenance of various operating systems, including Apple, Linux, and Microsoft platforms.
- Configure and set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices.
- Inspect and verify computer hardware functionality.
- Install and configure software and functions according to specified requirements.
- Develop and maintain local networks to optimize performance and reliability.
- Ensure the security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
- Provide user orientation and guidance on operating new software and computer equipment.
- Organise and schedule system upgrades and maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, fixes and maintenance schedules.
- Identify shortages of computer or network equipment and initiate procurement.
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, promptly resolving application, workstation, and equipment issues with minimal disruptions.
- Implement and manage antivirus and malware protection software, as well as security patches.
- Configure and connect workstations to the domain controller and integrate them into Active Directory
- Manage and maintain VoIP systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
- Perform additional duties relevant to the position, as assigned by the Senior IT Administrator or Manager.
Qualification and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (NQF Level 7).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the IT field.
- Strong knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
- Proficiency with Apple Macintosh software, hardware, VMware, vSphere, ESXi, and MySQL databases is highly advantageous.
- Certification as an IT Technician, such as CompTIA A+, CCNA, or Microsoft
- Certified IT Professional is an added advantage.
- Code B Driver's License
