PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


To lead the regions management and profitability by providing clear direction in the successful management of the stores in order to meet the Companys strategic objectives.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


  • Grade 12 Certificate and 10 years retail specific experience, of which 5 years should be at store management level.
  • Advanced Diploma in Retail Operations / Business Management.

ADVANTAGEOUS


  • Honours Degree (Business Management, Retail Management, and Marketing Management), and at least 5 years relevant managerial experience in a sales driven environment.
  • Supermarket experience will be advantageous .

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Provide input to strategy development of the business by attending strategic sessions and strategy review sessions.
  • Partake in the decision making of new development/ initiatives and store concepts (New business development).
  • Responsible for his/ her regions budget/ forecast, as well as jointly owning the companys budgeted targets.
  • Prepare and provide input to stores budgets.
  • Review monthly financial figures for region (sales, GPs, Shrink and cost saving initiatives).
  • Accountable for the performance of all elements within the management accounts for that region.
  • Accountable for cash flow and stock management.
  • Accountable for the sales performance of the region.
  • Accountable for meeting Gross Profit targets.
  • Accountable to ensure overall implementation of all promotional activities agreed to and approved for the region.
  • Provide input/ info that will drive effective promotional strategies with the region.
  • Monitor and report competitor activities within the region.
  • Monitor, manage and review performance of reporting staff.
  • Obtain approval from Human Resources and sign off training requirements for each store.
  • Review the training and development needs of staff and implement development and growth initiatives as required and within the parameters of the performance management system.
  • Discipline staff according to group policy and procedure, providing support and facilitating counselling where required.
