Why this Buyer position exists:
To source and procure materials and services as per the Procurement Officers request at optimal prices, while taking cognisance of optimum inventory levels and supply chain constraints, to simultaneously prevent and minimize shortages.
KEY JOB OUTPUTS :
Procure materials and services
- Procure materials and services as per approved requisitions.
- Place orders as per requirements and review daily.
- Manage outstanding orders daily and expedite.
- Following up on open orders and provide feedback to end-users.
- Check and verify that requisitions are authorized and project numbers are assigned.
- Source for materials and suppliers as requested and as per procurement process/policy.
- Perform telephonic price enquiries with suppliers to obtain the best possible process and request quotations.
- Where time allows, obtain 2-3 quotations to source the best prices and availability of material.
- Procure materials and services based on approved requisitions and orders.
- Provide customer service to end users and stakeholders.
Perform administrative duties
- Create and maintain purchase order on electronic system.
- Print order, attach requisition and all relevant documentation and submit to accounts department for payment purposes.
Adhere to Company Procurement Procedures
- Execute procurement, inventory and logistics strategies.
Ad hoc duties
- Attend to any reasonable request made by Line Manager.
- Live the O&L Values and Persona.
- Adhere to company and legislative standards.
Guidelines and equipment:
- Organisational Values, O&L Persona, Policies and Procedures.
- Kraatz subscribes itself to the principles of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) which includes documented and prescribed procedures. All employees are required to adhere to those procedures applicable to their areas of responsibility and duties.

First-level subordinates:
- None
Work environment:
- Office based in Walvis Bay but incumbent will be required to travel outside Walvis Bay occasionally as per operational requirements.
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required :
- Grade 12 with 4-5 years procurement / purchasing / buying experience.
- Computer Literate.
Preferred/Advantageous:
- Certificate/Diploma in Purchasing.
- SAP knowledge.
Other requirements:
- Drivers Licence.
