Superintendent: Shift Operations

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To manage and co-ordinate plant process operations and associated Engineering technical support services to maintain effective control over production and Engineering functions and operations, liaise with different sections within processing and other concerned departments, in order to achieve optimal product availability, utilisation and to ensure optimum use of resources to maximum effect.

Key Performance Areas:

• Maintain effective control over operations, by liaising with different sections such as maintenance, engineering and technical support to ensure minimum downtime.
• Ensure that annual and monthly uranium oxide production volumes are achieved.
• Initiate, lead and participate in technical investigations on operations and maintenance of the plant.
• Coordinate maintenance activities to provide continuous supply of equipment and machines required for operations.
• Review and set work standards, practices and procedures to achieve/optimize process specific utilization and efficiency.
• Plan, develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labour and materials.
• Co-ordinate process specific maintenance planning system for achieving plant /mechanical/ equipment availability objectives.
• Approve critical spares, component and stock levels for plant / process / equipment to effectively meet maintenance requirements at optimal cost.
• Plan and recommend future equipment and labour requirements for approval, by taking into account age of plant and labour complements.
• Draw up and implement operational plans, in accordance with production plan and objectives.
• Responsible for budget control, based on production requirements, and controls expenditure within approved parameters.

Requirements and experience:

• BSc Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering degree.
• Honours degree in Metallurgical /Chemical Engineering or related will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 8 years experience in processing plant environment of which 3 years should have been in a managerial capacity.
• Experience in Uranium processing will be a distinct advantage.
• Valid Code B/BE Drivers License.
