As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team in the Mining Industry outside of Otjiwarongo

Position Overview:

The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs across our mining operations. This role involves developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and enforce health and safety policies and procedures specific to mining operations.
• Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Training and Awareness: Deliver training programs and workshops to employees on health and safety practices and regulations.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
• Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and standards.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
• Emergency Response: Develop and manage emergency response plans, including coordination with local emergency services.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health and safety role within the mining industry.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in the mining sector; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to analyze data and identify trends.
• Attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
