PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of the Manager of Energy is to strategically oversee and optimize the organization's energy resources and initiatives to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves developing and implementing energy management strategies, fostering innovation in energy solutions, and aligning energy practices with corporate sustainability goals. The Manager of Energy drives initiatives that reduce energy consumption, manage utility expenses, and support environmental stewardship, thereby contributing to the overall operational success and environmental responsibility of the organization.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
  • Over 10 years of experience in energy management, with a successful track record of completed energy-saving projects.
  • Expertise in industrial (NH3) and commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with national electricity tariff structures and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent communicator with exceptional networking and interpersonal skills.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Energy Savings Initiatives:

Energy Audits:

  • Identify Opportunities: Analyse energy usage to find efficiency gains.
  • Methodology: Use energy profiling, benchmarking, and monitoring tools.
  • Report Findings: Summarize results and recommend actions.

Decision Papers:

  • Technical Feasibility: Assess technical aspects of energy-saving measures.
  • Financial Feasibility: Evaluate costs, ROI, and payback periods.
  • Presentation: Prepare reports for stakeholders.

Implementation Plans:

  • Action Steps: Outline steps, timelines, responsibilities, and resources.
  • Monitoring: Set metrics to track progress and effectiveness.

OPCO/Group Projects:

Evaluate Projects:

  • Technology Assessment: Ensure use of energy-efficient technologies.
  • Best Practices: Apply industry best practices.

Project Oversight:

  • Project Management: Supervise energy-impacting projects.
  • Collaboration: Integrate energy-saving measures with project teams.

Post-Project Inspections:

  • Compliance: Check adherence to efficiency standards.
  • Performance: Assess the effectiveness of installations.

Crisis Management:

  • Emergency Preparedness: Plan for energy supply disruptions.
  • Business Continuity: Ensure critical energy systems remain resilient.

Energy Metering Systems:

  • System Deployment: Oversee installation of metering systems.
  • Data Platforms: Develop or choose platforms for real-time monitoring.
  • Training: Train employees on system usage.

Supervisory duties:

  • Leadership: Lead teams and drive energy initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work with teams to achieve efficiency goals.
