MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The main purpose of this role is perform internal legal advisory services on legal matters such as legislation, governance, commercial contracts, litigations, employee relations, dispute resolution, and other specific legal tasks.

Key Performance Areas:

  • To provide legal advice on relevant matters including matters related to Corporate Governance and business ethics.
  • To research, analyze and monitor the development of local trends, draft Bills and Government policies and provide opinions in respect of their impact on the companys operations.
  • To perform a range of sundry legal duties and administrative responsibilities which facilitates and supports the achievement of Swakop Uraniums (SU) goals.
  • Assist in identifying legal risks impacting the company and the formulation and monitoring of mitigating measures.
  • To assist with the preparation, reviewing, vetting, execution of legal documents and contracts.
  • To submit reports and advise on contract strategies.
  • To adhere to and ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements and Company Procedures and standards.
  • To assist in carrying out all aspects of corporate legal secretarial functions effectively and ensure that the secretarial obligations are met under the relevant board rules.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
  • LLB Degree or equivalent degree specialising in corporate law or related business law.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner to the High Court of Namibia an added advantage.
  • Sound general knowledge of the mining industry, and/or large multi-national corporate environment.
  • Proven track record of drafting, reviewing and editing agreements and contracts
  • Familiar with local and international laws and regulations (esp. Company laws)
  • Valid Code B/BE Drivers License.
