Job Description

A FINANCIAL REPORTING ACCOUNTANT AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:

  • Optimises financial control at Namdeb Holdings and De Beers Namibia holdings by:
  • Providing input and recommendations to the Financial Reporting Manager for the formulation of accounting policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring adherence to policies and procedures, taking corrective action where necessary, and regularly reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and procedures.
  • Implements and monitors procedures and protocols that align with regulatory standards and best practices to ensure that computerized accounting systems meet adequate audit trails and internal control requirements.
  • Monitors legal updates and integrating compliance measures into the companys financial practices and reporting procedures.
  • Oversees internal and external auditors in their on-site duties and year end audits.
  • Determines tax liabilities through comprehensive analysis of financial records andadherence to tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepares cashflow forecasts and budgets for review by the Financial Reporting Manager and reviews monthly general ledger reconciliations and trial balance.
  • Submits statutory returns related to the finance function and ensure compliance to all legal requirements.
  • Prepares company financial statements in accordance with company and IFRS requirements and standards.
  • Prepares and submit financial reporting packs to the De Beers Group.
  • Prepares group consolidation reports for monthly reporting and ad hoc financial information for management and board meetings.

Qualifications

CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Accounting / Finance
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
  • Six (6) years relevant experience
  • Experience working on SAP FI will be an added advantage

Additional Information

THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Computer Literacy (Ms Office)
  • Knowledge of IFRS and SAP FI
  • Knowledge of Namibian Tax Legislation
  • Financial Statement Preparation Software
  • Presenting and Communicating Information
