Senior Officer: Transport

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To coordinate passenger transportation fleet to ensure safe transportation of Swakop Uranium employees and ensure optimisation of the transportation system.

Key Performance Areas:

• Administer transport vehicle systems and schedules, to ensure effective utilization of resources.
• Minimize vehicle down time by identifying current or impending defects and take the necessary corrective action, to ensure that correct vehicle maintenance measures are performed.
• Manage the tracking system of the company to ensure optimum use of vehicles and equipment.
• Check that the various transport records are up to date to ensure compliance.
• Provide input into the annual budget.
• Maintain stock levels and control cost of consumable and non-consumable material of the sub-section.
• Conduct Visible Felt Leadership on a regular basis to ensure that company assets are protected and kept in good working condition.
• Provide guidance on legal and technical aspects of vehicle utilization, e.g. road worthiness and load capacities.
• Check that the drivers have the necessary licenses and permits to operate the respective vehicles and equipment and inducted on all relevant procedures.
• Enforce adherence to set bus schedules and time tables.
• Check that licenses / permits of all vehicles are up to date.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• Degree in Transport and Logistics Management.
• 5 years relevant working experience of which 2 years should be at supervisory capacity.
• Experience in Fleet management will be an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of passenger transportation rules and regulations.
• Sound knowledge of passenger transportation Act.
• Valid Code CE Drivers License.
