Job Description

A DRILLER PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Adheres to and promotes Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues.
  • Optimises the movement of the vessel and drilling at all times, ensuring maximum production by monitoring weather, overburden volumes and heave conditions related to movement and drill times.
  • Monitors the progress of the ore extraction and adjusts the drilling parameters to suit seabed conditions by controlling all parameters including bit pressures, rotation spreads, compressed air and compensation cushion flow.
  • Carries out drilling in the quickest, safest and most economical way possible by modifying drill bit operating parameters.
  • Responsible for coordinating effective recovering and running of drill pipes on the Gimbal table.
  • Controls and follows up on all drill floor planned maintenance through regular inspections.
  • Accurately report to senior driller the maintenance progress for planned work on drill floor.
  • Maintains housekeeping on the Drill Works in line with leading practice principles.

Qualifications

DO YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Grade 12 with a pass in English, Maths and Science; and
  • National Trade Certificate (Fitter / Turner/ Millwright and Electrician) with Maths and Engineering Science.
  • 2 years as an artisan or 2 years rotary drilling experience in an offshore environment.

Successful completion of the Debmarine Namibia drilling development programme will be an added advantage.
