MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist the Head of Department (HOD) to manage the Supply Chain Management Department to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. purchasing, warehousing, materials management, distribution, logistics and inventory functions of the mine. Drive continuous improvement initiatives ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met and also to provide technical advice on Group policies and guidelines to ensure integration of procedures and systems.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Develop, implement, and manage short, medium, and long-term materials and supply management planning to meet overall SU objectives and strategies.
  • Formulate and align departmental materials management plans and objectives annually.
  • Implement and manage an inventory control system in conjunction with Finance to identify discrepancies and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure specific focus on master data management, including order points, delivery times, and safety stock levels.
  • Ensure robust inventory control, including policies and procedures, safekeeping, reporting, re-order management, obsolescence, and availability of critical items.
  • Monitor and enforce internal control procedures related to materials management.
  • Oversee the physical stock-taking process and manage the receiving and issuing process in central stores.
  • Prepare and submit the annual stock holding budget, review inventory replenishment plans monthly, and minimize overall inventory value.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory safety standards, end-user adherence to standard procedures, and availability of adequate warehouse resources.
  • Develop annual objectives for the purchasing function and design purchasing policies and strategies to ensure fairness and BEE local procurement compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate purchasing performance. Manage and expedite the purchasing process.
  • Conduct cost reduction initiatives.
  • Research and analyze the market and transportation delivery systems to assess current and future material availability.
  • Manage inbound and outbound transport.
  • Ensure efficient management of port processes, including loading and stocking in port.
  • Manage existing and new commercial supplier contracts, ensuring they meet organizational goals and standards.
  • Identify / monitor relevant Acts for provisions / amendments which impact on materials management functions.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance.

Requirements and experience:

  • Honours degree in Supply Chain Management / Material Management / Business Administration / Transport and Logistics or related field.
  • 10 years experience in a Supply Chain management environment of which 3 years should have been on a Management level.
  • Mining industry experience will be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge in Supply Chain Integration Management.
  • Sound knowledge and proven competency in the application of all relevant regulations and law.
  • SAP MM ERP software knowledge
  • Knowledge of MS Office programmes: Excel, Word, Outlook, PPT.
  • Code B or BE Drivers License.
