PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To maximise full utilization of all Tetra Pak equipment and machines. Responsible for maintaining Tetra Pak equipment, both downstream and upstream, and develop technical staff in proper maintenance procedures and processes on this equipment.

Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program in line with the PLMS data to minimize downtime and be pro-active in scheduling repairs, acquiring equipment, and reduce maintenance costs.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A national diploma in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or/
  • 5-6 years experience in an FMCG operating on Tetrapak Machines
  • Must be able to perform both planned and breakdown maintenance on all Tetrapak Equipment .
  • Tetrapak certification will be an added advantage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical Effectiveness:

  • Plan & perform preventative and routine maintenance in accordance with Tetra Pak SOPS on all Tetra Pack equipment.
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, identify root causes, and resolve technical malfunctions and breakdowns in accordance with set turnaround timelines.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on total productive maintenance on all equipment to reduce waste and increase efficiencies.
  • Solve problems and/or breakdowns timeously when production is interrupted and reintroduce equipment into the production environment in accordance with set standards.
  • Conduct benchmark of maintenance KPIs and work practices against other plants in the group (or other external operations as agreed) and implement best practices.
  • Provide advice and recommendation to product creation team to optimise life cycle management.

Work Planning & Control:

  • Repair/unplanned maintenance in equipment schedule routine repair checks on all maintenance equipment
  • Update and check the backup lists of HMI parameter settings for plant equipment.
  • Create work orders and reserve parts on SAP PM for repair or unplanned maintenance on a day-to-day basis.
  • React & follow-up swiftly on callouts and during the day to provide electrical and mechanical assistance to shift artisan and production personnel.
  • Conducts formal routine inspections on equipment to ensure effectiveness (i.e., Monitoring, identifying, and documenting)

Cost Management

  • Implement technical cost-saving solutions by establishing reliable and low-maintenance systems to manage operational costs.
  • Handle technical claims and provide technical advice on claims to be processed to ensure costs are mitigated.
  • Manage contractors' and suppliersrelations (customer feedback, availability of information) & leverage on relations to guide procurement to ensure that all specifications and customer needs are incorporated in the Request for Quotation
  • Execute asset management and/or new project/equipment installations as set out in the budget.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Provide reports in accordance with the metrics agreed, accurately, and timely for business decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Implement an action plan by providing feedback to the Production Manager and Technical Maintenance Manager on PMS (Plant Maintenance Schedules) & PLMS data.
  • Monitor and keep record of IMT calibration parameters by documenting any changes.
  • Participate in all audits, and traceability and provide reports to the Crisis team.
  • Report on optimizing electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Analyse quality complaints and implement corrective actions together with the production team.
