Job Description
A VESSEL MANAGER PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develops a financial budget to ensure sufficient financial resources according to the organisational strategy.
- Manages and controls the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
- Interprets, develops, and implements operational objectives and action plans to achieve the sampling and business strategy.
- Establishes and monitors performance indicators for production or sampling operation to ensure the attainment of objectives.
- Develops and implements short-, medium- and long-term plans within the parameters of the Company SHE objectives to achieve optimal vessel availability, utilisation and output.
- Co-ordinated all functions on-board the vessel e.g. sampling production, engineering, survey, marine security, and SHE to ensure optimal integration of vessel systems and processes.
- Analyses recovery vessel production and sampling trends and manages investigations/ projects to ensure optimal process quality and performance standards are achieved and where necessary raised.
- Manages SHE and good housekeeping programme to achieve objectives by:
- Monitoring the interpretation and compliance of all subordinates to statutory legislation, company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that SHE inspections, investigations and the implementation of corrective actions are carried out where necessary, to maintain and if necessary, raise standards.
- Manages and controls subordinates for optimum utilisation by:
- Setting individual and team goals to support department objectives.
- Directing subordinates to achieve individual and team objectives.
- Assessing subordinate performance and implementing corrective measures where necessary.
- Adheres to and promotes Company policies and procedures relating to safety, health, environmental and security.
THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY TO THIS POSITION:

- Knowledge of Namibias Labour Act, Namibian Merchant Shipping Act and Diamond act.

- Understanding of sampling and production vessel flow sheet and positioning systems

Qualifications
DO YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS?
- BSc Hons Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Geology, Mining Engineering, Survey, Marine or equivalent.
- Masters degree and /or mine managers certificate of competence will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 6 8 years managerial experience of which 4 years included on middle manager level with exposure to marine sampling and / or mining, general engineering and vessel management
