Purpose of the Job:
The IT Infrastructure Engineer at Letshego Bank Namibia plays a vital role in orchestrating and optimizing the bank's technology backbone. The primary purpose of this role is to design, deploy, and maintain a robust network a server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. By doing so, this role supports the seamless operation of critical banking services, empowers innovation, and fosters a resilient foundation that underpins the bank's mission to provide secure and dependable financial services to our valued customers.
Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design and Planning: Collaborate with IT and business teams to design and plan network and server infrastructure that aligns with the bank's operational and strategic objectives.
- Network Architecture: Design, configure, and maintain the bank's network architecture, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and data center networks, ensuring high performance and security.
- Server Administration: Manage the setup, configuration, and administration of server systems, both physical and virtual, to ensure their efficient operation.
- Network Security: Implement and monitor security measures, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard the bank's network infrastructure against cyber threats.
- Hardware and Software Deployment: Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of network and server hardware, as well as software applications and operating systems.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize the performance and capacity of network and server infrastructure to meet the bank's growing demands.
- Backup and Recovery: Establish and manage data backup and recovery processes to ensure data availability and business continuity.
- Patch Management: Implement patch management procedures to keep network devices and servers up to date with the latest security and software updates.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network and server infrastructure.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor network and server performance, proactively identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime.

Knowledge and Skills Required of the Job Holder:
- Senior Secondary Certificate with at least 25 Points and above
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Relevant certifications such as, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Fortinet NSE, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMWare VCP
- A NQA 7 Certificate/Diploma/Degree in the field of information technology, or computer science.
Skills Required
- Network Infrastructure Management: Proficiency in designing, configuring, and maintaining comprehensive network infrastructure, encompassing LANs, WANs, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Server Administration Expertise: Mastery in setting up, configuring, and managing server systems, both physical and virtual, with a focus on Windows Server and Linux platforms.
- Security Best Practices: Understanding and application of network security best practices, covering firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
- Network Protocols Knowledge: Familiarity with key network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs to ensure seamless communication and connectivity.
- Server Virtualization Proficiency: Experience with server virtualization technologies, particularly in platforms like VMware or Hyper-V, to optimize resource utilization and enhance scalability.
