Job Description

A DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:

• Designs and documents data warehouse schemas.
• Ensures database and process efficiency through continuous monitoring, tweaking and tuning
• Designs and document SQL database architecture.
• Defines standards for data type design applicable to bespoke application development.
• Defines, implements and control processes, policies and procedures.
• Ensures availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
• Ensures that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are tuned optimally for performance, capacity, efficiency and redundancy.
• Monitors the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
• Defines of a Database Maintenance plans e.g. Disaster Recover, Free Space, and Transaction Logs etc.
• Supports deployment of all software applications.
• Troubleshoots and problem solving of SQL development.
• Implements and releases of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs.
• Implements analysis services standards.
• Implements reporting services architecture and standards.
• Implements automated database maintenance.
• Manages database user accounts and permission.

THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY FOR THIS POSITION:

• Experience in managing multiple Microsoft SQL Server systems.
• Practical experience in the monitoring and tuning of databases to provide high-availability service.
• Database programming (TSQL) experience is essential.
• Practical experience in managing Microsoft SQL Server database security models will be an added advantage.
• Microsoft Visual Studio Development C#.NET. would be an added advantage.
• Database warehousing knowledge is essential together with big data solutions.

Qualifications

CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• National Diploma in computer science or related field specializing in Database Administration.
• Must have three years in SQL Database design (data modeling) and SQL Server DatabaseAdministration.
• Experience in the full life cycle of systems development/provisioning.
• Experience in managing multiple Microsoft SQL Server systems.
• Practical experience in the monitoring and tuning of databases to provide high availability service.
• Practical experience in managing Microsoft SQL Server database security models
