Handyman

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To carry out a variety of semi-skilled repairs and maintenance work within the facilities section.

Key Performance Areas:

• Perform inspections of buildings, offices, office furniture, fixtures, structures etc. within area of responsibility, in order to determine the kind of action/steps to be taken.
• Inform supervisor of areas needing repairs and/or maintenance and suggest suitable materials to be used.
• Perform repairs on doors, windows, office furniture, walls, ceilings, fixtures, structures damaged by weather, age or accident or other easily identifiable faults.
• Perform maintenance, alterations and construction work within office buildings and change houses, e.g. doors, partitions, shelves, light tubes etc. within the parameters of handyman.
• Maintain, repair and replace laundry and kitchen appliances.
• Carry out preventative tasks such as disinfection and sanitization.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• 3 years general handyman repair and maintenance experience.
• Maintenance and repairs knowledge.
• Safety and risk practices.
• Use of various repair / maintenance and hand tools.
• Code B or BE/ CE Drivers License.
