Job Purpose:

We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team, responsible for chairing all disciplinary hearings and providing training to initiators in our department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum BA Law degree or Diploma in Labour Law, along with significant experience in disciplinary hearing procedures and industrial relations (IR) matters. Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is essential, and experience in conciliation and arbitration proceedings is advantageous. The candidate should possess excellent presentation skills, maintain a professional appearance, and hold a valid license with access to their own vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair all disciplinary hearings within the department.
  • Train initiators on disciplinary hearing procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies during hearings.
  • Maintain accurate records of disciplinary proceedings and outcomes.
  • Liaise with HR and legal departments as needed for complex cases or legal advice.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment law and disciplinary procedures.
  • Assist in resolving IR matters and disputes within the department.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving employee relations and preventing future disciplinary issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout all proceedings.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum BA Law degree or Diploma in Labour Law.
  • At least 3 years of experience chairing disciplinary hearings.
  • At least 3 years of experience in dealing with IR matters.
  • Experience in conciliation and arbitration proceedings is preferred.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
  • Professional and presentable demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Access to own vehicle
