LOCATION: STRAND HOTEL SWAKOPMUND

GRADE: A3

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To serve all guest at all our bar outlets and ensure that all bar stock and operational stock is accounted for and that all bar outlets are profitable.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Grade 12 with English and Mathematics
  • At least 1 years work experience as a barman/bartender
  • Beverage/Wine knowledge
  • Knowledge of mixology, reproducing or creating cocktails taking into account the seasons, events, tastes and trends
  • Knowledge of beverage service styles and techniques, beverage preparation and specialized beverage orders of service is required.
  • Knowledge of MICROS will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Cost of Sales and Stocktaking.
  • Knowledge of silverware advantageous.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide beverage service to guests in a professional and courteous manner consistent with established standards and service levels.
  • Conduct accurate Opening and Closing stock count daily including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist.
  • Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout scheduled function time, and ensuring proper authorization for additional payments as required prior to replenishing.
  • Advice and recommend food & beverage choices to customers while making offers.
  • Maintain knowledge of a variety of activities in and around the Swakopmund area.
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, and balancing the cash register.
  • Adhere to all cash handling policies and all billing and accounting policies.
  • Provide guests with quality service and seek opportunities to communicate with guests to personalize the service.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of duty station before the end of each shift in accordance with the standards.
