PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:


Assist in various food preparation and cooking tasks under the supervision of the Chef de Partie to meet the expected food quality standard and deliver consistent culinary experience.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:


  • Min Grade 10
  • 1-2 years experience in the same or similar position.
  • Knowledge of


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Assist chefs with the food preparation process, such as chopping vegetables, trimming meat, and measuring ingredients accurately according to recipes.
  • Ensures that all mise-en-place is completed prior to food service periods.
  • Always adhere to the correct cooking methods.
  • Maintain and clean all equipment after use and ensure proper storage.
  • Keep stores, refrigerators, and freezers in the department clean and tidy.
  • Ensure labelling of dates on products according to requirements.
  • Assist with deliveries and restocking.
  • Assist with stock rotation.
  • Safely and appropriately use tools/equipment/appliances to prepare food.
  • Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet the chef's standards for aesthetics and quality.
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area; set-up and break-down workstation; and follow and ensure compliance with sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Follow the guidance of chefs, rotating through kitchen stations to gain a well-rounded experience.
  • Ensure daily kitchen Opening & Closing procedures are adhered to.
  • Always adhere to and follow all Standard Operating procedures on, Quality Control, Health Hygiene and Safety.
