PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:


To lead, guide, and execute operational plans and strategies for the Engineering Technical Maintenance Department, overseeing Utilities, Processing, Automation, Mechanical, Packaging (Filling equipment) Stores, and ND Facilities. The position also involves supervising the enhancement and upkeep of technical equipment to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and adhere to industry regulations. Additionally, it entails overseeing assets and maintaining a balance between maintenance, servicing, cost control, and operational functionality to optimize production efficiency and meet consumer needs. This position will also advise and support to the rest of the organization and Superfarm.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:


  • A National Trade Diploma/ Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) with 8 years experience in a FMCG environment.
  • 4 - 5 years experience in a managerial role in a FMCG environment.

ADDED/PREFERRED ADVANTAGEOUS:


  • Registration with the Engineering Council is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on maintenance, leveraging innovative solutions to address challenges and optimize maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment, adhering to best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize unplanned downtime and reduce the frequency of machine breakdowns.
  • Develop efficient procedures for responding to machine breakdowns and minimizing repair time.
  • Develop standardized maintenance procedures to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities based on asset criticality, production requirements, and resource availability.
  • Drive the implementation of corrective actions to address disruptions, non-conformity, or issues identified during maintenance activities and audits.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine preventative maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
  • Manage and introduce cost-saving solutions by designing energy-efficient solutions, using technology to save on operational costs, establishing reliable and low maintenance systems as well as utilization and use of personnel, and equipment.
  • Design & develop automated control systems for environmental applications (e.g. waste processing, air quality, water quality systems & cleaning systems)
  • Responsible for implementing and facilitating, TPM practices, lean methodologies (WCM), best practices, and innovative technologies to streamline maintenance processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor maintenance metrics and key performance indicators to track the effectiveness of maintenance programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction within the maintenance function.
  • Leading the design, improvement, and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems, streamlining production lines, and contributing to automation projects within cross-functional teams.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports based on agreed metrics to support business decision-making and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in audits, and traceability processes and provide reports to the Crisis Management Team.
  • Develop and implement a system for tracking and analyzing breakdown data to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to building codes, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions for building and facility maintenance, including preventive maintenance schedules and budget management.
  • Manage and assess the condition of lands, buildings, and facilities, and recommend upgrades or improvements as needed to support organizational objectives.
