Job Description

A SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN AT DEBMARINE NAMIBIA:

  • Installs, commissions and maintains hardware and software and ensures smooth integration of relevant software applications.
  • Conducts investigations of operational problems, do fault finding and recommends appropriate software systems to support the business.
  • Performs specific hardware repairs where possible and escalate complex recurring problems to relevant suppliers.
  • Monitors devices in area of responsibility and provides information on updates, known errors, changes in availability, new facilities and acts accordingly.
  • Maintains the user directory by creating, updating and deleting user access as requested.
  • Provides effective user support and service desk functions.
  • Configures and maintains various back-office and collaboration systems.
  • Partakes in projects as/when required by configuring and rolling out scheduled tasks of the project.
  • Partakes in standby duties in adherence to related procedure and rectifies all issues that may arise when on standby.
  • Drafts system documentation and uses appropriate operating systems, hardware, tools and/or paper documentation to maintain the configuration management system.
  • Trains end users on various applications and equipment to ensure transfer of skills.

Qualifications

CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant National Diploma in IT
  • A+ and/or MCP qualifications
  • 4 years relevant experience which includes exposure to an IT Service environment.

THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES ARE KEY FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Computer applications - MS Office
  • ITIL Framework
  • A+ or equivalent proven on-site hands-on ability
  • MCP (Workstation)
  • MCSE (Current Level)
  • Video Conferencing and Telephony
  • Network and Server Infrastructure
  • Administrative skills
  • Work independently
  • Handle confidential matters
  • Planning and organising skills
