Job Description

IN THE ROLE AS SECURITY OFFICER: MARINE YOU WILL BE REQUIRED AMONGST OTHERS TO:

  • Promotes a culture of diamond control aboard amongst vessel staff by re-enforcing appropriate behaviour in line with Diamond Control Team criteria as well as participating in vessel-based Diamond Steering Committee and its activities.
  • Provides access control for authorised personnel into high risk areas.
  • Monitors movement and behaviour of personnel within high risk areas for suspicious or irregular behaviour.
  • Captures and reports data in respect of vessel-based entries for subsequent analysis.
  • Monitors production process and reports on non-procedural or below standard practices and processes.
  • Monitors the condition of protection systems and equipment by:
      • Regularly reviewing system status
      • Carry out visual checks on doors, security seals, detectors, cameras, and any other surveillance equipment, to ensure that they are in good working condition, and not a security risk.
      • Checking physical security features including locks, screens and other features which protect areas, and arranging for replacements/repairs if necessary.

Qualifications

DO YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Grade 12 with successful completion of first-year of accredited Security/Police Management National Diploma qualification
  • 3 years corporate security experience (professional security services in well-established set up), e.g including CCTV, Access Control and Asset Protection
  • Experience working in the Security Section in Namibia GOC (NDTC, NAMDEB, DBMN) will be added advantage.
