Position summary

Introduction

Responsible for finance administration functions of Capricorn Asset Management (CAM), Capricorn Unit Trust Management Company (CUTM) and any other administrative or accounting work related to unit trusts and other product offerings.

Job description


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Administration:

  • Prepare script reconciliations for review by the finance manager.
  • Calculate the interest and dividend splits of Non-Money Market funds for distributions.
  • Verify the accuracy of distributions.
  • Assist with the distributions.
  • Process unit sales for payment of withholding tax and transfers.
  • Performing weekly unit and buffer calculations and follow up and clear script differences.

2. Accounting Function:

  • Collaborate with finance manager and senior accountants to gather and organize financial data for daily accounting tasks for CAM and CUTM
  • Assist with financial data entry and reconciliation on PASTEL for CAM and CUTM
  • Support in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts, including income statements and balance sheet for CAM and CUTM.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of on internal controls for CAM and CUTM
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of value added tax, income tax, withholding tax for CAM and CUTM
  • Assist in the streamlining of financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage the petty cash by performing weekly petty cash reconciliation.
  • Manage monthly recoupment of staff refreshment expenses and staff parking.
  • Assist in updating the fixed asset register and tagging of assets.
  • Adapt to and perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer, Finance Manager and Senior Accountants for CAM and CUTM.

3. General Administration:

  • Handling of all client or suppliers queries
  • Record keeping of supporting documentation by attending to filing on a daily basis.
  • Preparing audit and investment confirmations for clients to be reviewed by Finance Manager.
  • Assist in providing information required by Internal and External Auditors.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel)
  • Accounting software knowledge (Pastel)
  • The ability to work to deadlines and adapt a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (commercial subjects)
  • Diploma in Accounting
