Africa Personnel Services (APS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Business Unit Head for Merchandising. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and drive merchandising strategies to enhance sales performance and profitability for our retail or business organization. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies in alignment with business objectives. Identify growth opportunities through comprehensive market analysis.
  • Lead, inspire, and set goals for a high-performing merchandising team. Provide guidance and mentorship to support professional growth and development.
  • Oversee product selection, pricing strategies, and vendor negotiations. Optimize inventory levels and turnover to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and implement effective promotional campaigns aligned with business goals.
  • Develop and manage merchandising budgets to achieve financial targets and optimize resource allocation.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms to ensure product quality and availability.
  • Utilize data analytics to evaluate product performance and strategy effectiveness. Generate key performance indicator reports to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and implement quality assurance processes to uphold product standards.
  • Stay abreast of customer preferences and feedback to enhance the overall shopping experience and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the merchandising team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and address customer needs in coordination with the sales team.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement initiatives to drive ongoing improvement and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with IRED software or similar merchandising software preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in merchandising or retail management, with a proven track record of success in driving sales and profitability.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a keen understanding of market trends and consumer behavior.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
