The Head: Quality Assurance position is responsible for the development, review and implementation of a Quality Assurance operational plans and programmes, policies and standards that are aligned to Strategic Objectives and ensuring that the academic programmes are fit-for-purpose, of high quality and meet both internal and external requirements. The position promotes, coordinates, and monitors all quality assurance interventions including programme accreditations to ensure compliance and facilitate ongoing improvements. The position is also responsible for building and maintaining of the Welwitchia University image locally, regionally, and internationally in terms of reputation, academic standards, and the quality of the student experience through focussed stakeholder engagements. Furthermore, the position leads and manages resources (people, financial and equipment) effectively and efficiently. Management of risk and compliance to regulatory requirements is another critical function of the position in addition to undertaking general administrative functions..

Requirements

  • Master in relevant field (Education/Quality Management/Risk Management/Law/Nursing).
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (in cases where the applicant does not have a qualification in the education field).
  • A total of five (5) years industry experience of which three (3) were at a managerial level.
  • Good knowledge of relevant Acts, legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of the education sector and Higher Education Management (distance, open and online).
  • Strong leadership and general management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of data management systems
  • Working knowledge of curriculum development approaches, programme, and institutional accreditations.
  • Good knowledge of risk, compliance, and audit management as well as project management
  • Ability to display discretion, particularly when handling confidential documents.
  • Advanced ICT Skills (Microsoft packages) including data management systems.
