PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To supervise and manage tour guide operations, offering training and mentorship to uphold exceptional guest experiences. lead specialised excursions for tourist groups, showcasing significant landmarks, and wildlife, and imparting historical and factual insights specific to the Zambezi region.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years experience with guiding groups in a 4* or 5* Hotel/Lodge

  • Certification with NATH (Namibian Academy for Tourism and Hospitality) FGASA or CATSSETA

  • Deck Officer Class 6. Mate II Skipper II STCW 95 F

  • Knowledge of the Chobe National Park

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supervise and lead the tour guide operations, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they deliver high-quality tours and excellent customer service.

  • Create schedules, assign tours, and coordinate guide assignments to ensure coverage and efficiency.

  • Review and update SOPs for tour guiding, safety protocols, guest interactions, and emergency procedures.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of the lodge's surroundings, including hiking trails, wildlife habitats, and local attractions.

  • Coordinate with the food and beverage department for tour snacks and ensure proper preparation of supplies.

  • Compile detailed reports on tour activities, guest feedback, incidents, and noteworthy observations.

  • Manage scheduled and ad-hoc tours, emphasizing safety, education, and enjoyment.

  • Ensure adherence to safari and tour guide standards for an outstanding guest experience.

  • Lead guided walks and game drives, escorting guests around the property and maintaining tour areas.

  • Identify and leverage sales opportunities by promoting additional tours, services, or products that enhance the guest experience.

  • Encourage and facilitate additional sales of tours and safaris, acting as an expert on available products.
