Dairy Assistant x2

Job Grade: A2

Location: Mariental, !Aimab Superfarm

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To perform all operational activities regarding the herd in order to achieve the strategic initiatives and critical success factors of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

• Grade 10
• Minimum 12 years experience in the same or similar environment.
• Ability to perform Artificial Insemination will be an added advantage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

• Perform milk parlour duties regarding collecting and milking of cows in production.
• Perform assigned tasks with regards to herd health regarding daily observations, vet visits, treatment, vaccinations, and artificial insemination.
• Perform assigned tasks with regards to the treatment and care of animals in hospital
• Perform assigned tasks with regards to the care taking of calves.
• Perform assigned tasks with regards to care taking of new born calves.
• Perform housekeeping duties in all operational areas to maintain a high standard of hygiene.
• Drive the tractor as assigned and adhere to the care and maintenance procedures.
• Adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
• Adhere to all operational procedures in the execution of duties.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Good communication and good interpersonal skills

• Ability to work within a team and internal processes
• Attention to detail
• Experience on working with animals.
