Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and certified welder to join their team in Walvis Bay, Namibia. The ideal candidate must be BOSIAT or OPITO certified and have a strong background in executing welding procedures for different types of metals. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of workmanship and quality in all welding projects to meet the needs and requirements of our company. In addition to the previously mentioned requirements, the candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and accurately execute welding procedures for various types of metals.
- Accurately plan and organize task execution according to standard operating procedures, drawing specifications, company specifications, and supervisor's instructions.
- Ensure correct weld preparation as per drawing and weld procedure specifications.
- Comprehend weld procedures and symbols, and interpret codes and standards.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment effectively.
- Perform tack welding and adjust amperage for welding position and plate thickness.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, ensuring defect-free, high-quality welds.
- Prevent distortion during welding and understand radius corners weld intersections.
- Conduct basic cutting, grinding, flange fitting, and alignment.
- Utilize oxy-acetylene cutting techniques.
- Demonstrate assertive communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptability in various work situations.
Requirements
- Grade 10 and proof of Competency as Coded Welder.
- BOSIAT or OPITO certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant welding experience.
- Proficiency in English or Afrikaans (written and verbal).
- Candidates must reside in Walvis Bay or be willing and able to relocate.
