An Onshore Slinger Technician Operations Worker in the oil and gas industry is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient handling of heavy equipment and materials at onshore job sites. Their primary role is to control the movement of loads using various lifting and rigging equipment, ensuring that all operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Load Planning and Preparation:

  • Evaluate load requirements and determine suitable lifting equipment and rigging methods for onshore operations.
  • Conduct inspections of lifting equipment, such as slings, shackles, and hooks, to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Calculate load weights, angles, and load limits for safe lifting.

Signal and Communication:

  • Utilize standardized hand signals or communication systems to direct crane operators and other personnel during onshore lifting and positioning activities.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the crane operator and ground crew.

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and company safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform safety checks and risk assessments before initiating any onshore lifting operation.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on rigging equipment to ensure it functions correctly.
  • Report any equipment defects or issues promptly for repair or replacement.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of onshore lifting operations, including load details, equipment used, and safety checks.
  • Document and report incidents or near-miss events to relevant personnel.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with crane operators, riggers, and other team members to coordinate and execute onshore lifting activities efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced workers as required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in rigging and lifting operations.
  • Certification as a qualified rigger or slinger.
  • Logistics operations
  • Prior experience in onshore slinging and rigging operations, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in onshore-specific safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions and onshore environments.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety
  • Proficient on English
