Responsibilities: Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential mining and energy projects and market trends.
  • Assess market dynamics, including supply and demand, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities, acquisitions, or joint ventures.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, including mining and energy companies, government entities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to expand the network and stay updated on industry developments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and requirements.

Project Development and Bid Management:

  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities, including exploration, development, and production projects in the mining and energy sectors.
  • Develop and manage the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept development to securing necessary permits and approvals.
  • Prepare and submit project proposals, tenders, and bids, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and subject matter experts to prepare technical and financial project assessments.

Strategic Partnerships and Alliances:

  • Identify potential strategic partners and collaborators to enhance project capabilities and market reach.
  • Negotiate and secure partnerships, joint ventures, or strategic alliances to leverage complementary expertise and resources.
  • Collaborate with partners on joint exploration, development, or infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate partnership performance and make recommendations for improvements.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Assessment:

  • Stay updated on mining and energy industry regulations, environmental standards, and social impact assessment requirements.
  • Assess project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices.

Financial Analysis and Feasibility Studies:

  • Conduct financial analysis, including cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and investment appraisal for mining and energy projects.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and business cases to evaluate project viability and attract potential investors or financing.

Competitive Intelligence and Market Positioning:

  • Monitor competitor activities, industry trends, and market developments.
  • Analyze market dynamics and identify competitive advantages to position the organization effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategies to differentiate the organization's offerings and secure a competitive edge.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mining engineering, energy management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in business development within the mining and/or energy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mining and energy sector regulations, project development, and industry trends.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with a strong industry network.
  • Proven track record in identifying and securing new business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Financial acumen and ability to conduct financial analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for project management, financial analysis, and market research.
