Description

As a casual bartender, your primary role is to provide exceptional customer service and create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for patrons at the bar. You will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, taking orders, handling cash transactions, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the bar area. Additionally, as part of this role, you will be on standby for future events, where you may be called upon to provide bartending services as needed. This is a flexible, part-time position, often suitable for individuals seeking additional income or those with irregular schedules.

Requirements

  1. Customer Service: Provide friendly and efficient customer service by greeting patrons, taking orders, and ensuring prompt delivery of beverages. Engage with customers, answer their questions, and make recommendations based on their preferences.

  2. Drink Preparation: Prepare and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits, following established recipes and techniques. Ensure drinks are made to the customer's specifications and adhere to quality standards.

  3. Cash Handling: Process cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently. Handle payments, issue receipts, and maintain an organized cash register. Keep track of tabs and settle them promptly.

  4. Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the bar area by regularly wiping counters, sanitizing equipment, and ensuring proper storage of supplies. Restock bar inventory as needed, including glassware, beverages, and garnishes.

  5. Knowledge of Products: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the bar's drink menu, including ingredients, flavors, and presentation. Stay updated on new beverage trends and techniques to offer unique experiences to customers.

  6. Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding the service and sale of alcohol. Ensure responsible alcohol service, monitor customer intoxication levels, and take appropriate action when necessary. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.

  7. Standby for Future Events: Be available on standby for future events, where you may be called upon to provide bartending services as needed. This may include private parties, corporate events, weddings, or other special occasions.

  8. Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with other bar staff, servers, and kitchen personnel to ensure smooth operations. Collaborate to create a positive work environment and assist colleagues when needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior bartending experience is preferred, but not always required for casual positions. On-the-job training may be provided.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of customers.
  • Strong knowledge of drink recipes, cocktail preparation techniques, and beverage presentation.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating drink prices.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and the ability to identify and handle potentially difficult situations.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the establishment's operating hours and future event schedules.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy kegs or cases, and work in a bustling environment.
