Description

Our client, an emerging plasterboard manufacturing plant located in Arandis, Namibia, is actively seeking a competent and seasoned Calcine Plant Operator to become a valuable member of our workforce. In this role, you will assume the responsibility of efficiently operating and maintaining the calcine plant equipment, thereby facilitating the production of superior gypsum calcine for use in plasterboard manufacturing. Your proficiency in technical matters, meticulousness, and unwavering commitment to safety and quality will play a crucial role in driving the success of our manufacturing operations.

  1. Operate and control calcine plant equipment following standard procedures and safety guidelines.
  2. Monitor and optimize temperature, pressure, and flow rates for high-quality gypsum calcine production.
  3. Conduct routine inspections, promptly addressing operational issues and malfunctions.
  4. Manage raw material levels to ensure uninterrupted production.
  5. Perform quality checks on gypsum calcine, maintaining proper calcination, particle size, and composition.
  6. Adjust process parameters to meet product quality specifications.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve calcination-related problems.
  8. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
  9. Collaborate with the production team to ensure a consistent supply of gypsum calcines.
  10. Strictly adhere to safety protocols and identify potential hazards.
  11. Assist in training and mentoring new calcine plant operators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in mechanical or chemical operations are a plus.
  • Proven experience operating calcine plant equipment in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in gypsum or similar mineral processing.
  • Strong understanding of calcination processes, including temperature control, chemical reactions, and material handling.
  • Familiarity with automated control systems and ability to interpret data from gauges, meters, and computer screens.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while following safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills and effective collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 production operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Physical fitness for lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
