Our client, a startup plasterboard manufacturing plant based in Arandis, Namibia, is seeking a skilled and experienced Dryer Operator to join their team. As a Dryer Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating and maintaining the dryer equipment to ensure efficient and effective drying of plasterboards while adhering to quality and safety standards. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to maintaining a smooth production flow will be vital for the success of their manufacturing operations.

  • Operate and control the dryer equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, and air circulation settings to maintain optimal plasterboard drying conditions.
  • Perform routine inspections of the dryer system, identifying and promptly addressing operational issues or malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of dryer operations, including equipment settings, production data, and any adjustments made.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure a consistent flow of plasterboards into and out of the dryer.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on dried plasterboards, inspecting for proper drying, dimensional accuracy, and overall product quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any drying-related problems, such as uneven drying, warping, or defects, with minimal impact on production.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the dryer equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new dryer operators, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure a skilled workforce.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in mechanical or manufacturing operations preferred.
  2. Proven experience operating drying equipment in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in plasterboard or similar product manufacturing.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills.
  4. Familiarity with automated control systems and data interpretation from gauges, meters, and computer screens.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while following safety protocols.
  7. Good communication skills and effective collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  8. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 production operations.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  10. Physical fitness for tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
