Description
Our client, a start-up plasterboard manufacturing plant based in Arandis, Namibia, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join their team. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in the manufacturing plant. Your expertise in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance will be crucial in minimising downtime, maximising production efficiency, and upholding safety standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and machinery as per maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate tools and techniques to identify the root causes of problems.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components, including motors, circuits, switches, sensors, and control panels, to restore functionality.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance plans,ensuring efficient resource utilization and timely task completion.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Manage an inventory of electrical spare parts, tools, and equipment to ensure availability when needed.
- Adhere to electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards, proactively identifying potential hazards and taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment and systems.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and emerging technologies related to electrical maintenance, suggesting improvements and implementing best practices.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced maintenance technicians, offering technical expertise and training as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in electrical maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in the plasterboard or construction materials industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment, including motors, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical distribution systems.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, reading schematics, and using electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex electrical issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 plant operations.
- Physical fitness for tasks such as walking, climbing, and lifting heavy equipment or components.
