Position summary
Introduction
The Lead Database Engineer will have end-to-end accountability for the Database Management Systems (DBMSs) for the Capricorn Group from strategy, delivery, service lifecycle, and production operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge on all DBMSs, strong leadership skills and support of the Database Engineers as a mentor, coach and escalation report. This position will engage with all other platforms to monitor, diagnose and resolve database related issues for all Capricorn Group entities.

Deliverables
Strategic contribution:
o Ensuring that overall DBMS Strategy aligns with threat landscape, control objectives, and efficiency goals.
Operational contribution:
o This role needs to work closely with System, Network, Desktop Engineers, and Service Desk Agents to provide technical support on new and existing server and database platforms. The Lead Database Engineer will hold a key role in documenting and reviewing database-based solutions in these various areas.
Security Management:
o Establish, administer, monitor, and maintain a secure DBMS environment.
Human Resource Management:
o Supervision, coordination and mentorship of the Database Engineer team.

Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge and or experience with Oracle / MS SQL and various other DBMS
- Hands-on ability to aid in Incident and Problem resolution
- PCI-DSS Knowledge
- Database architectures and design
- Principles and practices of advanced database administration
- Industry design and configuration standards for enterprise databases
- Excellent Leadership skills

Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Information Technology
- MCDBA Certifications / MCITP Certifications
- 5 Years' experience in managing a team
- 8 Years' of extensive hands-on experience as a Database Administrator at technical senior level
- Experience with other DBMS (MySQL, Mongo DB, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
- ITIL foundation certification an advantage
- Experience with database servers in a virtualized environment
- Practical experience in DB High Availability and Disaster Recovery
