PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


To coach and train staff and management in the Fruit & veg department. To assist business to increase the financial performance of Fruit & Veg by identifying areas of concern in production areas and putting together a plan of action to address and rectify for profitable, effective and efficient operations of the (appointed) department of all PnP Stores.


QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES


  • Grade 12, with a minimum of 3 years technical experience in the Fruit & Veg preparation field.
  • OR Relevant Diploma and at least 1 years senior experience in a Fruit & Vegenvironment.
  • Experience in a supervisory/ managerial role within a retail environment will be an advantage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY


  • Assist Fresh Food Managers/Supervisors and Service Area Regional with implementing practical and well-tested best practices for the purpose of attracting/retaining customers and boost departmental sales.
  • Implement best control mechanisms in order to keep shrinkage and waste within parameters as agreed with Service Area Regional.
  • Coordinate with branches to ensure the effective preparation of stock takes and liaise with the Store and Fresh Food Managers/Supervisors during stock taking preparations as required.
  • Monitor departmental growth in line with each stores growth and provide suggestions to Fresh Food Managers/Supervisors and Service Area Regional accordingly.
  • Identify training and coaching needs and communicate to Service Area Regional.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors and management on how to effectively manage the department.
  • Assist Fresh Food Managers/Supervisors with implementing schedules and quality standards.
  • Provide guidance on the display of specialties in a presentable manner and adhere to franchisor standards and standard operating procedures for PnP.
  • Provide weekly and monthly feedback to Service Area Regional related to any deviation/ problems in display/ merchandise standards, so that issues may be addressed in store.
  • Provide product knowledge to employees in the department.
  • Visits stores as requested by Service Area Regional.
  • Check production plans to assist in ensuring that the plans deliver to store needs/customer demands with regards to timing and range.
  • Identify any training needs within stores.
  • Monitor health & safety and food safety standards in production area and address any issues.
