PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Waste Education & Awareness Raising Officer is responsible for promoting a culture of waste minimization and environmental protection within the residents of Windhoek in order to foster an attitude and behavioural change.

Key Performance Areas

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Plan and deliver a range of waste education programs and initiatives that maximize resource recovery and minimize waste to landfills and encourage the sustainable use of natural resources within the City of Windhoek.
• Assist with the coordination of all waste services and other waste management programs of the Division and promote a culture of waste minimization and environmental stewardship within Council and the broader community.
• Engage with residents, businesses, schools, agencies, and other key and regional stakeholders to reduce waste in landfills and improve resource recovery rates within the CoW.

Skills, Experience & Education

REQUIREMENTS :

Qualifications:

National Diploma: Education/Public Administration/Community Development/Marketing/Social Science/Environmental Management/Health Management/Office Administration.

A Bachelors Degree in the abovementioned fields will be an added advantage.

Job experience:

Minimum two (2) years experience in public administration/environmental management/working in solid waste management or related projects as an advantage.
