An exciting opportunity exists for a General Manager Operations reporting to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will be part of EXCO Team and will be responsible to provide strategic direction to both mining and processing operations, whilst driving continuous business improvements, as well as ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance in the Operations Division. The main purpose of this role is to lead and ensure execution of safe and sustainable operations, while driving continuous improvement in line with the companys stated purpose and values.

Specification

  • Developing and implementing annual strategic business plans to achieve set targets.
  • Lead, manage and control all mining and processing operations to ensure optimum production is achieved.
  • Setting up of clear objectives and goals for the mining and processing team to achieve targeted production levels.
  • Analyse production data and reports and investigates causes of delays and deviations and ensures mitigating plans are prepared and implemented.
  • Leading, planning, and managing site operational activities to produce planned volumes of uranium ore cost effectively, without injury to people or damage to the environment.
  • Ensures effective management of costs.
  • Identify and manage strategic issues that could affect the ability of the operation to meet corporate and stakeholder expectations over the long term.
  • Leading business improvement initiatives in his/her area of accountability to deliver sustainable operational improvements
  • Implement initiatives that encourage team members to accept personal responsibility and accountability for workplace safety, quality of work, productivity and to make individual contributions to the team.
  • Playing a role in the overall business leadership of Rssing at executive level.

Requirements

  • Four-year Bachelor Honours degree at NQF level 8
  • At least 15 years experience at strategic executive managerial level or senior management level of a large organisation focusing on:
  • oOperational management
  • oLeadership of business systems and processes
  • oDesign and implementation of business systems and processes
  • Experience working in a role involving financial, international, and multidisciplinary dimensions will be highly desirable
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have both mining and processing operational experience at a senior management level
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience of different commodities or broader mining industry experience.
  • Valid code B drivers Licence

Required Competencies and Skills:

  • Proven project execution and implementation skills
