PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To implement the Group Safety strategy, in support of the overarching Operational Risk Framework, within the O&L Group and to act as Owner of the Safety Management Function in the O&L Group.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma in Safety Management.
- Degree or Diploma in Emergency Management will be an advantage.
- Minimum 8 years experience in Safety management field with 3 years managerial experience.
- Familiar with ISO 45001 Requirements.
- Knowledge in Safety Risk Assessments, Audits, Training, and Incident Investigations.
- Professional knowledge in the safety field.
- Understanding of safety legislation in Namibia.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and facilitate the implementation of the Safety Framework and review the Safety Management Policy.
- Ensure that Management review of the Safety Management System and Programme is done.
- Ensure that safety risks are adequately captured and assessed as per the documented risk assessment standard and procedure.
- Ensure that all legal appointments are in place within Operating Companies and provide feedback on shortcomings.
- Coordination of safety training, projects, and initiatives throughout the O&L Group.
- Maintain and report on safety statistics at OC and Group level
- Ensure that Risk officers fulfill responsibilities regarding incident management process and external and internal reporting.
- Ensure that the performance of subordinates is managed in line with the expectations of the role.
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding any external safety matters which could have an influence on the ability of the organization to execute its business in a sustainable manner.
