Introduction

The Maintenance Planner will assist the Maintenance Superintendent to plan, schedule and co-ordinate all maintenance work and resources required to maintain and enhance equipment availability and ensure economical asset life cycle predictions and upholding of historical maintenance and financial data.

Job description

Maintenance Planning

  • Establish and maintain sound maintenance plans and practices
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of / and continued compliance to the maintenance management approach in the area of responsibility
  • Analyse equipment histories to prevent unplanned maintenance
  • Produce clear and accurate maintenance plans and reports

Resource Coordination

  • Co-ordinate and control spares, critical stock and component control requirements
  • Assist in identification and ordering of parts in advance before work orders are placed
  • Check for weekly scheduled operation parts availability
  • Co-ordinate workflow for repairable spares
  • Assist with appropriate purchase requisition raising for any component repairs
  • Monitor and co-ordinate warranty claims
  • Prepare forecasts in consultation with the supervisor, for labour and skills requirements versus workload and future spares requirements

Staff Management

  • Review performance of staff, provide positive feedback and guide rectifying behaviour, as necessary
  • In addition to performance reviews, regularly discuss work plans and assess progress reports
  • Assist each staff member in compiling a Personal Development Plan [PDP] and ensure on the job coaching or other appropriate training interventions
  • Ensure on-going and effective communication with staff
  • Attend any specialized training courses related to duties, subject to Policies & Procedures

Housekeeping and general admin duties

  • Ensure delegated safety and housekeeping tasks are completed and associated work orders are signed of and returned to the supervisor for planning
  • Ensure work orders or job cards are completed and returned to the planning office daily
  • Ensure adequate delegation of work according to the competencies and skills of the assisting team

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of work area
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near miss incidents to the supervisor in a timely manner

Minimum requirements

  • Namibian Citizen
  • Minimum N3 National Certificate or Grade 12 with 4 relevant technical subjects
  • Trade Diploma - Diesel Mechanic or Fitter and Turner
  • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience, post apprenticeship artisan experience, preferably with exposure in an open pit-mining environment of which 2 years should have been at a supervisory level
  • A proven track record in a maintenance planning role
  • Significant experience and proficiency in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, e.g. SAP, Pragma, Sage.
  • Valid Code B Drivers License
