Applications are invited for the position of Trainee Production Supervisor.

Specification

The Trainee Production Supervisor will participate in a formalised development program to develop and train competencies towards the position of Marine Production Supervisor. On completion of the programme he/she will gain in-depth knowledge of production, positioning, visualisation, survey and maintenance systems. The training programme is completed over a period of 24 months and consists of theoretical modules and on-the job practical sea-going, experiential learning.


JOB DEVELOPMENT AREAS:

  • Managing the production process in line with the Operating Model.
  • Supervising, coordinating and motivating Production team and managing safety.
  • Preparing and monitoring production targets.
  • Identifying and implementing waste reduction programmes.
  • Completing risk analysis.
  • Formulating, implementing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviewing production related maintenance plans and liaising with maintenance teams, survey and geology.
  • Determining critical spares holding requirements for treatment plant processes.
  • Compiling reports and statistics on all Production related matters.
  • Attending to production administration. Expense forecasting and cost control.
  • Monitoring the progress of the ore extraction and adjusting parameters to optimise results.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12
  • Production/operation related tertiary qualification (at least NQF 5).
  • At least 18 months experience in a supervisory role in a production and/or plant environment.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:


The successful candidate should be energetic and able to lead a team, be a self-starter and able to work independently, be innovative, analytical, have good problem solving as well as oral and written communication skills.
