The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant position of Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Midwifery and Neonatal Care, Faculty of Health Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Department of Midwifery Sciences, Windhoek Main Campus.
Specification
- The successful candidate will convene the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Care programme, teach, supervise postgraduate research and conduct research; Lecture Midwifery modules to postgraduate level students; to part-take in clinical accompaniment of students allocated clinical practice and in community midwifery; To part-take in research and community engagement activities and perform- administrative and any other duties as may be required; Facilitation of curriculum development and review, quality teaching and learning in postgraduate midwifery programmes; Clinical supervision at primary, secondary and tertiary clinical sites for maternal and newborn care; Managing/monitoring progress towards meeting HPCN requirements for students, curricula and clinical sites; Provision of academic support in the school and departments; Supervisor and co-supervision of postgraduate research; developing a personal research focus; participation with administration and management at the school and departmental level.
Requirements
- A PhD degree in Nursing, Midwifery or equivalent with a dissertation and research publications focused on Midwifery is an added advantage; coupled with three (3) years of service as Lecturer (including clinical facilitation) and satisfactory record of teaching, research and publication, and service to the academic and wider community; OR a Masters degree coupled with three (3) years of service as an Assistant Lecturer / Tutor / SDF at an Institution of Higher Learning (including clinical facilitation); A satisfactory record of teaching, research, and contributions in service to the community. Preference will be given to persons with a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Care. Clinical experience as a specialist midwife; Must be registered with the Health Professionals Council of Namibia.
