Veterinary Clinician (Companion Animal Clinical Studies) Main Campus

The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Veterinary Clinician position, Faculty of Health Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Academic Hospital.

Specification

• Treatment of clinical cases and supervision of students treating companion animals including equines at UNAM Veterinary Hospital. Lecturing veterinary students in selected topics in companion animal clinical studies as determined by the Head of Department; as well as supervision of surgical sterilization practicals. Conduct practical sessions in the Skills lab/wet lab, and where applicable with live animals. Supervise and conduct continuous assessment of students in clinical rotations. Active participation in research and community service in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Requirements

• Eligibility for Unconditional Registration as a Veterinarian in Namibia, with either a Masters degree or equivalent in companion animal medicine, or at least 8 years of proven clinical experience in companion animals. Experience in working in in the context of a veterinary hospital in companion animal clinical practice including surgery and internal medicine. BVM or equivalent qualification. Experience in veterinary education and participation in community service activities will be an advantage. Clinical expertise will be practically assessed in shortlisted candidates.
