The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Professor/Associate Professor position, Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the Built Environment, JEDS Campus.
Specification
- i)Teach undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the area of Thermo-Fluids. Successful candidate will be expected to teach traditional Thermo-Fluids courses, in addition to courses such as Thermal Systems/ Machines, Energy and Auxiliary Machines, Turbo Power Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, Internal combustion Engines, and Mechanics
- ii)Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students
- iii)Secure and sustain internally and externally funded research and industry projects in their areas of expertise
- iv)Establish an impactful and visibly recognize research group in the field of expertise
- v)Manage and execute various academic, research, industry and administrative projects
Requirements
- i)A Doctorate (NQA Level 10) in Mechanical Engineering with at least ten years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or industry experience or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience.
- ii)Proven record of sourcing, coordination, management and execution of external research and project funding
- iii) Strong academic management and leadership skills.
- iv)A proven record undergraduate and postgraduate teaching excellence in the area of Thermo-Fluids.
- v)For Professor Level: At least 25 refereed journal publications of which 7 must have been published since attaining the Grade of Associate Professor.
- For Associate Professor: A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.
- vi)Have a proven record of demonstrated outstanding scholarly contributions in research in peer-reviewed journal articles/ books/ conference proceedings, and a sound research profile.
- vii)Successful supervision of post-graduate students at post-graduate level.
