The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Lecturer position, Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the Built Environment, JEDS Campus.
Specification
- i)Develop and teach courses in the area of Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Pyrometallurgy and Hydrometallurgy in traditional, hybrid, and online platforms.
- ii)Establish and/or maintain a quality publication record.
- iii) Develop and maintain strong, visible externally funded research program that will contribute to scholarly publication.
- iv)Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate (in the case of a PhD holder).
- v)Contribute to both institutionally and professionally through active services.
Requirements
- i)MEng. /MSc. /MPhil. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent with specialization in extractive metallurgy covering the thermodynamic and kinetic studies of different extraction processes and development of processes. A PhD, industrial work experience and registration with a professional body would be an added advantage.
- ii)At least 3 years of university teaching, research and community engagement or relevant industry experience in the field.
- iii)Good publication record in high impact journals
- iv)Experience in sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects
- v)Should be able to teach the following modules: Metallurgical Thermodynamics II, Non-ferrous Extractive Metallurgy and Hydrometallurgy and Electrometallurgy
- vi)Student supervision (research) at both under- and post- graduate levels will be an advantage.
