MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To ensure continuous safe patient care and a positive patient experience by coordinating clinical and non-clinical resources and services at night.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Continuously deliver a quality service to patients in accordance with patient safety standards
Achieve the clinical quality standards according to policies and procedures
Ensure the optimal utilization and competence of staff whose behaviour reflects the organisations core values
Ensure continuation of patient care through effective supervision
Co-ordinate resources efficiently to enhance safe patient care
REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B degree or diploma in nursing
DESIRED EDUCATION: Relevant Management and leadership qualification
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 yrs clinical experience as a Professional Nurse
DESIRED EXPERIENCE 2 to 3 yrs management experience at the unit level (SPN/UM)
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
People Management
Risk management processes and procedures
Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies
Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
Nursing functional knowledge
Relevant nursing legislation
Human resource processes including employee relations
Complaint management
