Job Description
To ensure an effective link between the Electricity Department and the electrical contractors to facilitate an effective and efficient electrical network.
Key Performance Areas:
- Inspect new and existing installations to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for the supervision of the installation sector.
- Act in an advisory capacity to the electrical department, contractors and clients.
- Performs administrative and general duties.
- Performs meter investigations to prevent tampering and illegal wiring.
- Issue Spot Fines for illegal wiring and tampering, also work out back charges for lost consumption.
Skills, Experience & Education:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Trade Diploma; or a Completed Apprenticeship in the Electrical Field or a National Vocational Diploma (Electrical general IV) or a National Vocational Certificate (Electrical General III-Red Seal).
REQUIRED SPECIALISATION:
Installation Electricians Certificate of registration.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
A minimum period of six (6) years in the electrical construction field, of which 4 as an electrical installation inspector.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Code B drivers license, Peace Officers status must be obtained.
PRE-APPOINTMENT TRAINING:
11/66 KV switching specialised earthing and any supply regulating courses.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of supply regulations and the electrical distribution network. Knowledge of specialize measurement tools.
SKILLS:
Computer literacy, Decision making, Good interpersonal and communication skills.
