Job Description
The inspection and verification of any electrical installation to protect the COW revenue stream from electricity usage, ensure statutory and by-law regulations compliance to safeguard human life, live-stock and property.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Inspect and test electrical installations.
- Act in advisory capacity to electrical contractors and clients.
- Co-ordinates the electrification of low cost housing projects.
- Investigate illegal wiring and tampering.
- Issue fines and back charges for tampering and illegal wiring.
- Performs general and administrative duties.
Skills, Experience & Education:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
An electrical Trade Diploma or a Completed Apprenticeship in electrical field or National Vocational Diploma (Electrical General IV) or National Vocational Certificate (Electrical General III/Red Seal).
REQUIRED SPECIALISATION:
Registration as Installation Electrician Installation Rules SANS 10142-1, Single & Three Phase Unit Standards.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
A minimum of four (4) years post Trade Diploma.
PRE-APPOINTMENT TRAINING AS AN ADDED ADVANTAGE:
11/66KV Switching, specialised earthing and supply regulation courses. LEGAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Code B Drivers License, Peace Officer status must be obtained.
KNOWLEGDE:
Electrical Construction (wiring) of Domestic and Industrial Installations, Wiring Code SANS 10142-1.
SKILLS:
Able to use and correctly interpret meter testing equipment, computer literacy, good interaction with people and evaluation skills.
