Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for the immediate repair of pipe bursts, maintenance on existing house connections, installation of new house connections, repair of leaking valves, hydrants and air valves, cleaning of reservoirs and do pipe replacement for preventative maintenance.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Supervise the work / job activities of the subordinates.
- Repair of pipe burst.
- Installation of new house connections and maintenance of existing house connections.
- Repair leaking valves, air valves and fire hydrants.
- Replacement (preventative maintenance) of pipes.
- Cleaning of reservoirs.
Skills, Experience & Education
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Grade 12 Certificate Passed (20 points / 5 subjects with an E- symbol in the English language) Plus Three years Apprenticeship with Trade Diploma in Plumbing & Pipe Fitting.
REQUIRED SPECIALISATION:
Plumbing & Pipe Fitting.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
A minimum period of three (3) years job related experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Code B / BE Drivers License.
PRE-APPOINTMENT TRAINING AS AN ADDED ADVANTAGE:
Plumbing Certificate and / or a VTC Pipefitting Certificate Level I.
KNOWLEDGE:
Basic safety knowledge, Hand tools, Basic cutting.
SKILLS:
Interpersonal relations, Indigenous languages. Communication.
