Job Summary:
The Quality Control/Quality Assurance Chemist will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of materials and processes within the mining operation. This role will involve conducting tests, analyzing results, maintaining quality systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards to guarantee the integrity of materials being extracted and processed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct chemical analyses and testing of raw materials, ores, and final products to ensure they meet required quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols.
- Perform routine inspections of mining and processing equipment to verify compliance with quality control standards.
- Prepare detailed reports of analysis and quality control testing results.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of test results, procedures, and audits.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations in accordance with industry standards.
- Review and validate laboratory results, ensuring the precision and reliability of all findings.
- Assist with the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on quality control methods and procedures.
Requirements:
Desired minimum educational experience needed in key areas of responsibility to be considered for the position
- Sc or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
- Laboratory Management Systems (ISO 17025)
- Laboratory Systems Internal Auditing
- Statistical Method Development and Validation
- Develops, directs and coordinates the quality assurance/quality control program
- Take full responsibility for all Quality functions including the completion, maintenance, review and updating of Laboratory Management System documentation gearing towards obtaining and maintaining of ISO 17025 Accreditation
- Maintaining of the Laboratory QA/QC manual
- Have a sound understanding of ISO17025 and analytical method development
- More than 3 years of experience in Chemistry/Mining laboratory environment
- Relevant Technical Training and Experience (Instrument Specific XRF, AAS, ICP, Spark OES etc.)

- Proficient with common PC based applications, specifically in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work varied and extended hours/days, as business dictates.
- Valid drivers license (Code B)
